JUMPING EVENT MISHAP. (By Telegraph.—Pre« Association.) WESTPORT. Wednesday. A fracture of the left thigh was suffered by a Nefcon College schoolboy. Jack Brown, aged 18, while competing in a flop, step and jump competition at Westport this evening, After covering more than 41ft, at his lirst jump, h> struck the far edge of the pit at hii second attempt. Earlier in the evening the boy had won the 220 yds in 245, and had just been beaten i'l the 100 yds. He is considered one of the most promising athletes ia the Buller district.
