ENOUGH FOOD.

AT PITCAIRN ISLAND.

ADMIRAL BYRD'S REPORT.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

WELLINGTON, Thursday,

Commenting on the reported lack of food at Pitcairn Island, Rear-Admiral Byrd, whose ship the North Star called there, said the islanders had quite enough to see them through. Only certain things were needed, such as processed foods and medical supplies. The North Star called before the tramp which reported a shortage, and left 40001b of flour and 37001b of sugar. One of the Youngs was brought with a grand-daughter by the North Star from Pitcairn Island. The girl's parents live in Wellington. When the North Star called, the islanders had not seen a ship since November, and that boat left no supplies. The transmitter -had been broken and was being repaired. When the North Star's men repaired the receiving set the first broadcasts for three months were heard.
