MALTA'S WAR CONTRIBUTION.
British Official Wireles-s. (Received 10.30 a.m.) RUGBY, December 25. The magnitude of the contribution of Malta to the Empire's war effort can he gauged from the fact that, although the total population, including women and children, is only 260,000, there are no less than 1300 ratings from Malta serving in the Royal Navy. There has been equal enthusiasm in the raising of the Malta laqd forces to emergency strength. The Royal Malta Artillery has been nearly quadrupled during the past year, and there is now a second battalion of the King's Own Malta Regiment. The island has also formed a battery for defence against air attack on the lines of the "factory batteries" established in England.
