| FATAL CRASH INTO CHURCH. United Press Association.—Copyright. (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, December 22. German aeroplanes were located over the Firth of Forth. Fighters contacted one Heinkel at a considerable height, and, after being twice engaged, the enemy dived into the clouds and disappeared. Two others flew along the east coast and one circled over one town. Machinegunfire was heard and the machine flew out to sea, leaving a trail of white smoke. A Royal Air Force machine, believed to be making a forced landing, crashed into a church in the colliery village of North Brootnhill, Northumberland. It pet the church ablaze and smashed house windows. Two airmen were killed and one injured.
