MANY ATTRACTIONS.
EVENTS AT CHRISTMAS.
There will be a very wide field of attractions and entertainment in Auckland. for the Christmas holidays. Picture theatres will be open on the night of Christmas Day, and on Boxing Day the Auckland Racing Club'a summer meeting will open* at Ellerslie. The outdoor programme will include excursions to the many popular holiday and beach resorts, the Auckland Christmas bowling tournament, tennis, cricket and other sports. The Auckland representative cricket team is playing Wellington, at Wellington, starting to-day, and oil Christmas Day the Country Week cricket tournament will commence at the Auckland Domain.
The ocean yacht race to Tauranga was started this afternoon, where, on Boxing Day, the annual Tauranga legatta, which includes a large number of aquatic events, will be held. A regatta will also be held at Mahurangi.
