MANAGERS' REPORTS. Alexander (Reefton). —No. 6 lev£l: StopJng above the last rise was carried on for the first half of the period on reef averajr2ft in width. While stoping this ore atoove the rise, which wus very disjointed, another len® of quartz was found In the western wall an<! pitching north. Driving was then continued north from the top of the rls» and after driving 7ft through mullock the block of quartz seen above was encountered. A further 7ft has been advanced on this stone., which has proved a solid-looking block showing free gold and averaging 3ft in width. The drive is now !22ft north of the rise. Stoping has been carried on above No. 5 intermediate level north and south of the winze, the average width of all faces being worked being 4ft •>in. A considerable amount of filling has been done and passes logged to keep the stopea in good order during the holidays Adl work has ceased for Christmas and New Year holidays. Operations will resume on January 8, 1940. Keturns for the month of I>ecemi)er are as follow:—Battery department: 185 tons of ore crushed for 4!)oz 7dwt of melted gold; estimated value, £ 375. Cyanide department: Not cleaned up. In addition 4g tons _of concentrates were saved, valued at H175. Note: In estimating the above values gold has been taken at 160/ per fine ounce.
