Canterbury at the Wickets — Sound Second-Wicket Stand. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Perfect weather favoured the start of the Plunket Shield match at Lancaster Park this morning,' when Canterbury, winning the toss from Otago, elected to bat on a perfect wicket. Holden was omitted from the Otago Vide. The home team started poorly as Kerr was caught behind before he had opened his account. O'Brien, who lias just returned from England, joined Donnelly and runs soon came at a good pace. Boundaries were fairly frequent, the sixth over of Best's producing 11 runs.
