SEVEN ARRESTS MADE.

ALLEGED GAMING HOUSES.

For the first time in Auckland, a woman justice of the peace presided owr a special sitting of the Police Court, held at police headquarters this afternoon. It was neceeeary to hold this session of the Court because of the arrest of seven men on nr &min< ,r charges shortly after noon. Detective-Sergeant F. N. Alpin and Detective-Sergeant McKenzie and Constable Curtis took part iii the raids, which were made on six different premises in the city. Six men were arrested on a charge of using premises as_a common gaming house, and one for being found in a common gaming house. All appeared before Miss Alice Basten and Mr. A. J. Stratford, J.P.'s, and were remanded on bail, to appear in the Police Court next week.
