A.U.F. DISPENSARY.
LESS SICKNESS.
MANAGER HONOURED.
The quarterly meeting of the Auckland United Friendly Societies' Dispensary was presided over by the president, Bro. P. A. Owens, a very fair number of delegates being in attendance. The quarterly report, which was adopted, showed that the dispensary is still progressing, and the service giving full satisfaction. It was remarkable to note tSat there should be 2545 fewer prescriptions up to September 30 than for the same period last year, indicating much less sickness. Membership shows a slight tendency to decrease, upon members joining the Forces. The financial position was repo-ted to be very satisfactory. Owing to the import restrictions and war conditions it ie anticipated that there may be a shortage of some chemists' supplies, but these problems will be met as they arise, and it is expected that in spite of difficulties the service will be adequately maintained, following the precedent of the previous Great War. The resignation of the immediate past president, Bro. Walter McCombie, on account of other duties, was accepted with regret, and best wishes tendered for the future. The manager, Mr. W. K. Hounsell. was warmly congratulated upon his election as a Fellow of the Chemistry Society of London. Mr. Hounsell is held in high respect by the profession, being an examiner for the pharmaceutical examinaHe has rendered some exceptional services to the dispensary, which have been greatly appreciated. His activities in public and semi-public work are also outstanding, particularly in connection with Parliamentary Committee work.
