REPLY WANTED.
BY FARMERS' UNION.
"INSULT" TO PRESIDENT.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
DUNEDIN, Thursday.
Statements made by the Dominion president of the Farmers' Union, Mr. W. W. Mulholland, regarding, the recent broadcast by the Controller of Commercial Broadcasting, Mr. C. G. Scrimgeour, in which it ifas alleged that Mr. Scrimgeour referred to the farmers as "Public Enemy No. 3," were wholeheartedly supported by the Otago Provincial Council of the union at its meeting to-day. Discussion on the subject was brief, but members were unanimous in their support of the following resolution:— "That the council wholeheartedly supports the Dominion statements and expresses disappointment that the Prime Minister has not seen fit to reply to them." Mr. D. H. Cockburn said that the Prime Minister «yd, as far ae he knew, failed to reply to the president. That was more or lees an insult to the farmers and they should not hesitate to draw Mr. Savage's attention to it. "We do not like to see our president ignored," Mr. Cockburn said, "and we I should see that we obtain a reply."
