Arvakur cleared right out from, his companion over the concluding stages and defeated Orelio by three engths in 1.12 1-5, after running the first three furlongs in 34 2-ss. This broke the record of 1.12 4-5, established by Greek Gold and Exaggeration some years ago. Tip Toes (Green) covered a similar distance in 1.17 2.5, going fast early to run her first three furlongs in 36 4-5e and the firet four ii\ 50fe. Paddy The Kip (Cleaver) and Namara (Logan) were sent over the same ground; the last four furlongs taking 525, with Namara working well. Brazilian (Beguely) hit out more freely than usual while traversing five In 1.4.
<V 'v; GruidoraDMs Beit. Grandora (L. JJ Ellis) was much too good for Gay Movie- (Logan) ait the end of five furlongs in 1.1 2-5, after displaying good speed early to run his first two furlongs in 23 3-se. Grandora covered a lot of extra ground by running wide at the turn. Anion (McTavish) bit out well while running six furlongs m 1.14 2-5. Ihe Dozer (Gray),: Hunting Bee (Cleaver) and Ascot Bloom (Logan) were- in that order at the end' of tfix. f url6ngs-< in 1.15 3-5, the last thrap taking 39 3-ss. There was little between Money Spinner (Coleman) and Lovaals (Green) at the conclusion of five fur'ongs in 1.2 4-5. Over the same distance Maxam (Spinley) regis--tered the-' beet figures, covering the distance in 1.0. It is doubtful if this time has ever been bettered on the Takanini track.
On the Plough. Full Hand (Inglis) and Vaalso (Curwen) were not extended when running seven furlongs in 1.44, Flood Tide' (L. J. Ellis) was sent a imile and a quarter, which he covered itt 2.11, the first half-mile taking 52 3-5s and the lirst six furlongs 1.18. This was an excellent trial, %nd there is no doubt Flood Tide is right back to form. Philcourt (Beguely) and Vaalsstar (Bartle) worked over s round, running their last halt-mile in-52 3-sa. Dauber (McTavish) and Inquisitor (Green) ran a mile in 1.48 3S, after running the first . half in 545. Inquisitor, ;who is usually a lazy track worker, went very freely.
