There was a good attendance at the Waipa Gun Club's shoot at Te Awamutu on Saturday afternoon, when conditions were excellent for accurate marksmanship. The eye-opener, six birds, was won by John Pollard with the possible. E. Mulgrew, McMillan and T. Hall, each with five birds, tied for second, and divided. A six-bird sweepstake was won by A. Marsh with the possible. Pollard and B. Trimble tied for second with five birds each. The third match was also a six-bird sweepstake, and Trimble won with the possible. T. Hall being second with Jive birds. The I>rysdnle Cop shoot, six birds, -vas won by Hall, who registered the possible. Otwa.v. Trimble and Pollard tied for second, each with five bird*.

A gimcrack contest, six birds, saw K. Burrows and Marsh each score the possible, and in tile shoot-off Barrows woa. A semi-skcet match, mix birds, was won by 'M. Otwny wit.li the possible. The seventh match was a six-bird sweepstake. in which M. Otway. Trimble and I'ollard tied with tlie possible; they divided. The final event of the day was a sixbird sweepstake, which Otwi.v won wiih the possible, A. Marsli being second with five birds. BAY OF PLENTY. The Te Puke Uolf Club held its closing day on the links at Paeugairoa, ill perfect went her conditions. A Canadian mixed foursome was played, the winners being Mrs. N. Carpenter and Mr. X. Sprutt, and a further prize was awarded to Mrs. Tanner and Mirs. Dodds. The men's iong driving competition down the eighteenth fairway was won by W. K. Hookey. Before presenting the trophies won during the season, the president, Mr. U. Spratt, "X----pressed pleasure that the patron of the club. Mr. J. Dickson, was able to be present. and referred to the progress maiie by the club during the past two seasons. TENNIS AT CAMBRIDGE. A visit was received by the Cambridge Tennis Club during the week-end from a representative Mataniata team. Among the visitors was Miss Margaret Beverley, the New Zealand 1937 women's singles champion. The visitors proved too Htrong, and won by 1!» sets to 11.
