NURSING DIVISION.
INTEREST IN THE COUNTRY. In tlie course of a tour of the South Auckland area on ambulance matters undertaken during the week-end by Mr. F. J. Hutchinson, assistant commissioner of the St. John Ambulance Brigade, who was accompanied by District-Superin-tendent H. 1). Cobb, and District-Officer E. M. Houston, of Hamilton, and Dis-trict-Oflieer C. Lindesay and Corns Officer W. R. Dawson, of the Auckland staff, it was very gratifying to see keen interest taken by the ladies in the places visited in brigade matters.
The interest was very marked in Wa.ihi and Thames, and it is probable nursing divisions will shortly be formed in these places. At Paeroa a nursing division was formed, the required number of those present signing the registration form. Miss Dixon was appointed secretary and v ill hold the forms for a while in order that, others interested may sign up. During the evening it was mentioned that a small gill, who had been trained with the St. John Ambulance Brigade Cadets, had been instrumental in saving the life of an apparently drowned person. This shows the value of a knowledge of first aid especially In country districts.
