REFLECTORS STOLEN.
MR. BEMPIRE'S WARNING.

WELLINGTON, Monday.
"I ani shocked to learn that eomc| people with destructive and criminal minds have lwen using hacksaw* to cut down some of the special reflectors erected on the new Plimmorton-Pae-knknriki highway as a safeguard to motorists." said the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. R. Semple. "I want to give them a warning that if they are caught we will ask the law to impose tho maximum penalty, these people are the enernie* of motorist*. The Minister also had something plain to say about those people who have been robbing tho centre-line of the new road through the Ngahauranga Gorge of the poliutukawas that have been planted there to form hedges with the object of shutting off tho glare of lights from approaching traffic. "Some people who call themselves citizens, but who have the munis of I vandals, have been taking the trees ou , he said. "I want to give them due notice that officers will be placed on guard and anyone caught will b exposed. Those who do it are mischievous creatures who must have the mind of cave-dwellers."
