Men In Uniform; Civilians With Ga9 Masks.

BRITISH PRAY FOR PEACE.

(Received 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, September 10. Large congregations at the principal churches included many men in uniform. All civilians carried gas-masks, and arrangements had been made to deal with possible air raid alarms, retreats being provided.

Tliore is continuous intercession at Westminster Abbey for peace, and people prayed at the tomb of the Unknown Warrior throughout the day.
