CELEBRITY EXT ERTALVMENT. To assist the young Auckland rlansecu.se Rowena Jackson in her studies abroad, a celebrity entertainment in her honour was given on Saturday night in His Majesty's Theatre. This I.S-vear-o'd girl, it will be membored. was hailed by meinl»ers of the Covent Garden Russian Ballet as having grpat promise. A well-balanced programme included a generous proportion of numbers bv the -tnest of honour herself. Her request acrobatic dance was perhaps the best niimbei. She showed the grace and charm which won her early fame. Her dances included one entitled "April Showers and variations from "Aurora's Wedding" and "Valse Arabesque." Notable assistance was given by the ballet and chorus of the Auckland Amateur Operatic Society. The shopping ballet from *'Rose Marie.'' arranged by Miss Roaetta Powell, was outstanding.

Of a high standard was fclic vocal section of the concert. Mr. Stewart Harvey's baritone soups were much applauded, aiki even Ivtter were his duets with Mr. Gordon Fagan, who was also heard in s. " numbers. Soprano solos were rendered by Mrs. X. A. Abbott and Misses Sybil Phillipps and Eva Simson.

A trio consisting or Mrs. Beryl Prentice (piano), and Misses Winnie Hill and T. Fleming sang several popular numbers, and Mr. Xorman Wright sang Schubert's "Serenade" in a song scena with Miss Jackson. Mr. Dan Flood and Mi". Ba«il Kobson save humorous items.
