CLASSIC CLUB.
TENTH MEETING HELD. SONGS AND 'CELLO ITEMS. At the Classic Club's tenth meeting of the reason an excellent programme was provided by club members. Dr. S. Kenneth Phillips presided over a large gathering. Items were contributed by Miss \aneye O'Connor, who sang "6 Sleep, why dost thou leave me" (Handel), "O Men from the field*," "Padraic the Fiddler" (Hughes); Miss Phyllis Renner, who sang "Three Fairy Songs" (Beslv). "When a mounting skylark sings" (Bainton), "Shepherd's Holiday" (Benjamin); Miss Meryl Harvey, who sang "Sol veig's Song" ((J rieg), "A Spring Night" (Jensen), "Birds of the Night."' "Where the bee sucks" (Sullivan); Miss Edna Smith, who sang "Voce di donna (Ponchiello). "The Swan Bent Low" (Mac<lowell), "Before the Crucifix" (La Forge) ; Mr. Henry Donaldson, who presented the beautiful "Fliland" Song Cycle (von Fielitz). "Obstination" '(Fontena illes).
"Viens Aurore" (old French) : Mr. Stewart Harvey, who sang '"Lovelv Kind and Kindly Loving" (Buououcini).
"I trinin|>li. I triumph" (Carissimi) ami the dramatic 1 >;< 11 ;i<l "Edward" (Loewe).
A vocal duct. "'All Veglia, () Donna. from "Rigoletto" (Verdi). was given b.v Miss Mery I Harvey and Mr. Stewar: Harvey, '('ellii solos. "S|i;ini«sli Serenade - ' (Cla/.ounow) and "Cavotte" (Popper), were emit rilmted by Miss June Taylor, and pianoforte solos. "Wedding Day" (Clieg). "Les Tricot eiir-es."
