BRICK WORKERS.
DISPUTE FULLY SETTLED.
HALFPENNY AN HOUR RISE

WELLINGTON, Tuesday.
A Conciliation Council met in Wellington to-day to consider the brick, tile, pottery arid clay workers' dispute in the Auckland, Wellington, -Taranaki and Nelson industrial districts. After lengthy discussion in committee, complete agreement was reached.
The workers, in their demands, asked for a 4d an hour increase in wages for adults, and a 10/ a week increase for youths. The employer® offered $d an hour increase for adults, on condition that the terms of the existing award were agreed to. This was eventually accepted by the assessors for the workers.
The following hourly rates of pay were agreed to: —Flangers and moulders, 2/9; stickers, 2/7 i; setters and drawers, 2/64; quarrymen using explosives, 2/6s; burners, 2/SJ; clay pot men, 2/5; all other workers, 2/5.
The conciliation commissioner, Mr. S. Ritchie, said it was some time since a full agreement had been reached in Conciliation Council, and it spoke well for the reasonable attitude adopted by both side«.
The new award was dated as from August 14, and extends for one year.
