NEW CHAIRMAN.
PROFESSORIAL BOARD.
DR. JAMES RUTHERFORD,
Profe&sor James Rutherford, who holds the chair of history, is the newchairman of the professorial board of the Auckland University College. This is the first time that Professor Rutherford has held the position.
The results of a close election were announced at a meeting of the professorial board this morning. Two nominations were received when they closed on August 4. The other was that of Professor Maxwell Walker. The election was held on August 11.
