FIFTY YOUNG ENGLISHMEN.

UNDER GOVERNMENT CONTRACT

WELLINGTON, Friday

Another contingent of skilled tradesmen, immigrants under contract to the Government, arrived at Wellington from England to-day by the liner Arawa. They number 50, are all young unmarried men, and all trained artisans. They [were met 011 arrival by officers of the State Placement Service.

The Arawa brought also a further 10 men who had come independently to seek their fortunes. All except one were tradesmen, the other being a farmer. Some were accompanied by their wives and families.
