RAILWAY SCHEME.
HAMILTON FACILITIES. IMPORTANT CONFERENCE. NEW BRIDGE AND STATIONS. (Bj r Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON", this day. A further step in the proposed scheme to completely rearrange the railway facilities at Frankton Junction and through Hamilton will be taken on Monday', when Mr. G. H. Mackley, general manager of New Zealand Railways, and Departmental officials will meet representatives of the Hamilton Borough Council. Mr. C. A. Barrell, M.P., will also attend the meeting.
Reference to the proposed scheme was made in the Budget when in the Public Works Estimates it was stated that £10,000 would be required to be voted this year for the rearrangement of the railway services and the lowering of the line, while the amount required to complete the work, would bo £G65,300.
Although the scheme has not been definitely finalised, it embodies the building of a new station at Frankton Junction, a new station at Claudelands, the duplication and lowering of the 'ine through Har. iltou, the abolition of the. station at Hamilton and the erection of a new low level bridge across the Waikato River. Although plans for the new station at Frankton have not been approved, Cabinet lias approved of the site, and already some preliminary work has been done. If the whole scheme is approved the present railway bridge will be converted into another traffic bridge.
