LIFE-SAVING SOCIETY. A UCKLAXDEBS' DISTINCTION. Mr. F. Langley, honorary secretary of tlie Auckland branch of the Royal Lifesaving Society, has gained distinction by being made a life governor of the society. This is the highest honour that can lie conferred by the society, and Mr. Langley is only the third man in New Zealand to have the distinction. A Wellington ollicial was honoured in similar fashion about 20 years ago. as was Dr. T. Harold Pettit about two years ago. Mi\ Langley lias been secretary of the ~lld branch for seven years, and he is also president of the North Shore Swimming Club. An award of a salt water diploma has been made to Mr, Alan Gardner, of Auckland, chairman of the Surf Lifesaving Association. This award is the highest the Royal Life-saving Society can give for practical work.
