I'roducei-cfiiitrolled marketing of Xew Zealand mutton and lamb was advocated liy the president, Mr. J. L. M. Coop, in an address to the annual conference of the North Canterbury Provincial Farmers' Union this morning. He that sheepfarmers, if they adopted the orderly method* of thj> Dairy Board, would be much better off financially.
While praising the good work done by the .Meat I'rixluccr*.' Board in regulating supplies and advertising. Sir. Coop said tlint the Icnefits from this went to the purchasers of the meat — the eNport companies. The r-hcep-farmer was still trying to carry on with the old speculative wystem of marketing. That wan not the (ioveinmcnt's fault, for the sheepfarmer could have orderly marketing to-morrow if he liked to ask for it.

"It is no use eaying it cannot be done, because it can," continued Mr. Coop. "We have a duty to our farm workers, the most loyal body of men and women in Mew Zealand, our bankers, stock and station agents, and mortgagees to see that we are in a position to pay our way. Nobody is going to be hurt by this method. Let us get on with the job and bring confidence once again into the eheepfarming industry of Xew Zealand."
