FIRST GAMB DOWN FOR MAY 20. SHORTAGE OP REFEREES. The first same of the scries for the Drummond Cup -will take place at Blandford Park on May 20. This was decided at last night's meeting of the control board of the Auckland Football Association, when arrangements for Ihe competition wore discussed. Presented by Kear-Admiral the Hon. E. B. Druminond. when he was in command of the New Zealand naval station, the cup is for competition between Auckland and X.ivy representative (earns. The rules provide for three matches during t lip season, the side winning two of the frames to take the trophy. Navy was successful last season. With the fixing of the date last evening for the first game of the series, it was also agreed that club competitions should continue, on that date. The North Shore Club asked for a ruling on the matter of clubs playing Navy players. The letter alleged that the Grey 1-ynn Club was infringing the ruling, that only players attached to the Naval Base could play in the. local competitions. The secretary. Mr. \V. Harrison, reported that an emphatic denial of any infringement bad been made by the Grev Lynn Club, and it was agreed to take no action.
