RETURNED SOLDIERS.

OTAHUHU ASSOCIATION. RECORD POPPY DAY COLLECTION. With a membership exceeding 200, and a large attendance at the annual meeting of the Otahuhu and District Returned Soldiere' Aseociation, the president, Colonel R, V. Closey, complimented the executive committee upon the very fine progress made by the association during the past year, and paid special tribtite to the investigation officers, Messrs. W. C/mper and A. Brant (Otahuhu) and L. Havill (Papatoetoe), for the time and energy expended in their activities. The recent Poppy Day collection proved to 'be a record for the district, the total 6um collected being £200 8/, of which amount Otahuhu contributed £135, Papatoetoe £52, and Mangere and Weetfield £13. Great credit, said the chairman, was due to Mr. H. P. Lovell, who organised the street appeal and compiled a permanent record of helpers. Mr. Lovell received an ovation from the meeting. A special tribute was paid to the lady helpers in the different districts. It was 'decided to replace the annual smoke concert with a reunion dinner.
