TRACK GALLOPS.

. ■ '*-^iV VITEMENT GOES FAST, —~~—" i JUMPERS IN ACTION. ' TRIALS AT TE UAPA. i ' • (By Telegraph—Special to "Star. ,, ) HAMILTON, this There was considerable activity at Tβ Rapa this morning when a feature of the programme was the brilliant schooling displays of several jumpers over the steeplechase country, Bryce Street and Mao Lume being associated, and late Allegretto negotiating a round on his own. Among the splinters, those to --imnrege most were Vitement over sis furlongs, and Hunting Blood, Young Paddon, Casual and Galloping Acre over four furlongs, while Sky Pilot and Awhiowhio were responsible for the best figures over a. round. The No. 1 grass track was available for fast work, and provided good winter going, being on the dead eide, but not unduly holding. Bryce Street (X. Watson) and Mb Lume (J. Winder) were companions over a round of the big fences, the pair jumping oft" at the brush fence leading out of ; the straight. They continued on terms, jumping perfectly to the sod wall enter-* ing the straight, where Bryce Street finished on to head his companion, by several lengths on the post. It was an impressive display, with Brj-ee Street shading his companion at the majority of the obstacles, nHhonjih the fencing of AHo Lume left little to be desired. Bryce Street looks all the better for his racing over hurdles at Hawera recently, and hie .■ solid appearance, coupled with this morning's exhibition, will increase his circle of admirers for his steeplechase engagements ahead. • Allegretto (A. Gilmer) was to have had the assistance of Car Leaf (Brady), but the latter, as on Tuesday, refused to jump and Allegretto was obliged to carry on alone over a' round of the steeplechase course. He fenced perfectly throughout, and pleased by the manner in which he was finishing on in the straight. Allegretto needs only to remain sound to win races during the jumping season ahead. ; Stansted strode freely over a round on ■ the flat. Sky Pilot (A. Leach), a fancied candidate for steeplechase honours at the Waikato meeting, ran" once round in com- ) pany with Awhiowhio (Melnally) in 1.59 4-5, there being little between the pair. Sky Pilot has attracted attention since his arrival, and looks in splendid condition to give of hie best in pending engagements. Awhiowhio also shaped well, and appears to be on the upgrade. Midland (Melnally) and Starbright (Gilmer) ran five furlongs in 1.4 4-5, their last half-mile occupying 52 2-ss. Midland was travelling well within himself thitnighout, and should strip well next week. Race Camp (Melnally) finished clear of Acreman (Anvuneden), whose rider lost an iron over the deciding stages of six furlongs in 1.18 2-5, their last halfmile taking 535. A Good Trial. ' Vitement (Thomson) pleased by finkb> ing on to 'beat Long Span (Winder) and Susan (Hain) at the end of six furlongs in 1.16 3-s—a useful effort. Vitement appreciated the conditions, and ie bearing ■a healthy appearance, thi Maurier (Long) ■was doing better than Ellanui (Amuneden) over a round in 2.2, the first half-mile ibeing traversed in 51 1-oe. Da Maurier, who earlier in his recent work had been confined to short sprints, and indicated that he is improving. Rollieker (McKenzie) was not bustled to come bonifc from the half-mile peg in 535. He k .beai"ing a solid aT«pearance, and with the easing of the tracks will have to be taken into account. Little Briton (Amnneden)..; ran five furlongs in 1.7 1-5. This gelding ie showing steady improvement. Several smart half miles were recorded, Hunting Blood (Thomson) dashing horn* in 50s, time which WToung Paddon (Gilmer) later emulated in soundly accounting for, the maiden Rosemae (Long). Both Hunting Blood and Young Paddon are partial to winter tracks and should have prospects in the months ahead. Mia Regma (Winder) and Gaine's Choice (Hain) 'got to the end of four furlongs in 535. A smart effort over half a mile for horses of their clans ivas that of Casual (McKenzie)_ and Galloping Acre (Thomson), who finished abreast in 50 l-ss. Both were doing their work well. Lornacre (Long) covered the same ground in 51%5. Raceline (Thomson), after going easily over the first furlong, was hitting out in the straight to record 40s for three furlongs. Cappy (Brown) ran the last five of seven furlongs in 1.6V4. He is bearing a bright and healthy appearance. W. M. Thomson has been engaged to ride High Sea, Very Glad, Starbright and Raeeline in their Te Rapa engagements.

A GOOD FIVE. 1 SPRINTS AT TAKAHim. BRAZILIAN AND MARIE'S ACRE. The middle <rrass track was used for fast work at Takanini this morning. The weather was showery but the going was excellent. Inv-er (Coleman) and High Sea (Beguley) both worked well over seven furlongs, which they ran in 1.31 3-5. Te Poto (Coleman) hit out nicely while traversing six furlongs in 1.17, Dnwber (Michel) and Vaalestar (Kingi) taking 1-30 3-5. Both could have improved on this time. Noisy Xight (Smith) hit out well over three furlonps. but was not timed, while Phi'" court (Bartle) and Js af, Tielor King (Kingi) ran eix furlomrs in 1.19 4-5. The best sprint of the morning was credited to Marie's Acre (Bartle). and Brazilian (Bciniley). who reeled off five furlongs in 1.1 1-5. Brazilian, who was on the outside, appeared to bo doins the better of the pair at the finish, but it also has to be considered that he had a bi# advantage in the freight*. Pleuron (Bejruley) and Milanion (Parkinson) got to the end of five furlongs in 1.4 4-5 Romani (Spinley) concluded his work with a sprint up the straight, going freely.
