PHILADELPHIA, April 26. Police are convinced that a "murder for insurance" syndicate here has claimed at least 100 lives. Mrs. Carina Favato has confessed that she poisoned three persons, including her husband and stepson, to collect their life insurance. For nearly a month, detectives have been collecting evidence to prove that scores of poor and obscure persons have been insured heavily, and then slowly poisoned. In most cases, it is alleged, the poisoning was done by fake doctors, who pretended to he treating the patients.
