BUILDING RETURNS.
FIGURES FOR CITY. MANY XEW HOUSES. Building returns for the city of Auckland for the month of April show a lower aggregate value than in the pre vious months of this year, the total being £50,994. The largest individual permits for the month were for a block of three flats, two small factories, alterations and additions to a warehouse, and alterations to an hotel and a picture theatre. There were permits for 20 new dwellings, of a total value of £27,384. During the four months of the present year permits have been issued for 117 new dwellings, as against 92 for the same period of last year.
