BRILLIANT CEREMONY.

King Victor Emmanuel has accepted the crown of Albania. There was a brilliant ceremony in the throne room, where he received the Albanian delegation, headed "by the new Premier, M. Shefkat Yerlack. A great ovation was given to FieldMarshal- Goering and Signor Mussolini in the Chamber of Fascist Corporations yesterday. The Foreign Minister, Count Ciano. announced the union of Italy and Albania and said Albanians now would have prosperity and liberty. In the course of a long historical survey Count Ciano claimed that Italy's interest, in Albania dated from the third century before Christ. He added: "When I was in Yugoslavia in January I warned the Government that there might be modifications of Italy's relations with King Zog of Albania, who had attempted to spoil Italy's good relations with Yugoslavia and had arbitrarily used Italian financial aid." " Duce's Policy Right." Yet Italy had continued to help Albanians in the building of bridges as well as the making of -roads and in every industrial undertaking. The country had spontaneously thrown off sordid medieval tryanny and the welcome the Italians were given proved that II Duce's policy was right. All the Albanian cities were intact and none had been bombed. All the homes were standing. Count Ciano deplored the headlines in foreign newspapers. He then attacked the democracies. He said any attempt to upset the union between Italy and Albania would be met by action. The destinies of Italy and Albania were forever linked. Japan's Friendship. Cheering was renewed when Count Ciano referred to Japan's friendship. He went on to say that Mr. Chamberlain's recent speech was based on unchecked reports and ignored history. However. Italy fully agreed with the British Prime Minister regarding the necessity for maintaining the agreement between Britain and Italy, to which Italy attributed great value and was animated by an equal desire to maintain and observe all its clauses as hitherto. Italy's relations with Greece were excellent. Incendiary attempts to provoke a major crisis had failed. The occupation of Albania signified greater assurances of European peace. Negotiations are stated from Athens to be proceeding concerning a reported Italian proposal to guarantee the nortu- ■ west frontier of Yugoslavia, The Prime Minister of Hungary, Count Teleki, and the Foreign Minister, Count Csaky, will arrive in Rome on Tuesday ' on a three days' visit.
