FIRST MEETINGS.

IN SOCIAL SECURITY OFFICES. FRIENDLY SOCIETIES' FUTURE. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. It was mentioned by the Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, at the opening of the Social Security Building yesterday, that it was very fitting that the lirst meeting to be held in the new offices was to be that of the committee to consider the utilisation of friendly societies in the new scheme. This meeting was held after the guests dispersed and was followed today by a conference of Departmental officers with friendly society representatives, who are naturally concerned regarding the future of their own organisations. It was later reported that the discussion was of a preliminary nature and that the societies would have an opportunity of making practicable suggestions.
