VISIT TO HITLER. Mr. Chamberlain Declines Suggestion. SERVE NO USEFUL PUBFOSE. i British Official Wireless. (Beesived 1-30 p.jn-) RUGBY, March 27. The fact that Mr. Chamberlain was not. questioned in the House of Commons to-day on the progress of consultations with other Governments, was probably accounted for by the g-eneral knowledge that theso consultations are being: pursued, as far as Britain is concerned, in a mood which precludes unnecessary delay, while she acknowledges need for due consideration. Mr. Chamberlain was. however, asked to what extent the Government still regarded the declaration of September 29 by Britain and Germany as an effective instrument for regulating relations between Britain and Germany, and the Prime Minister referred the questioner to his Birmingham speech. In reply to a suggestion that he should jret in touch personally with Herr Hitler and obtain the latter's own explanation of his grave inconsistency. Mr. Chamberlain said he did not think any useful purpose would be served by doing so.
