CHILLED BEEF CARGO.
FIRST SOUTHLAND SHIPMENT. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent-) IXYERCAKGILL. Monday. The killing of cattle which will comprise the first Southland consignment of chilled beef was completed at the Freezing Works to-day and will be loaded into the Doric Star on Wednesday. The consignment is considered to be of esceJient quality and should l»e well received |on the London market. The meat 1* being kept at the freezinc works in a special chilling chamber in which * temperature of about five degrees below freezing point is maintained. From the works to the ship it will be conveyed in railway van*, in which the Southland Frozen Meat ( nmpanv is installing ice boxes t<> avoid am deterioration of the meat during transit. The company hn* been allotted onr Inckrr. with a capacity of Sl*"' qua-Mctf in the. Done Star, the meat lwine li-Jiig instead of being pai kc<l hnriiwiutally, a> in the case of frozen meat.
