"Swing and eway" is the motto of Johnny Madden's new band, and the customary throng of dancers on Saturday evening expressed their appreciation a enjoyment of modern syncopation. Amongst the featured numbers was "Silhouette in the Moonlight," while the ever-popular "Lambeth Walk" had its usual inclusion in response to general requests.
Encores of favourite old-time melodies sustained the jollity of the programme, and Mr. Madden'e show songs, with novel orchestral effects, were received with hearty applause. The air-conditioning installation in the cabaret ensured the comfort of the guests, despite the hot weather. All cubicles and lounges were crowded, "after the races" parties contributing a festive air to the dance aescmbiy.
