MEAT FROM N.Z.

IMPORTS TO BRITAIN.

RESTRICTIONS RESENTED.

AUSTRALIAN ATTITUDE. (By Telegraph.—Spccial to " Star.") WELLIXGTOX, this day. In connection with British efforts to impose further "restriction*"' on mutton and lamb import* in the interests of home producers, no information ha* been officially released regarding Xew Zealand's attitude.

Australia ha* made no secret of its *tiong objection to further interference, and there is sound reason for stating that New Zealand has taken the same emphatic stand. The Government has consulted the Xew Zealand Meat Producers' Board, which held a special meeting to consider the matter a fortnight ago. The final responsibility for replying rested with the Government, and it can be assumed with certainty that its answer was the same as that of the Commonwealth and that the importance of expanding mutual trade relations with Britain was stressed in contrast with the hampering effect of quotas.
