HIGH PRICES.
VEGETABLES FROM N.Z. Consignment of Cabbages, Peas and Beans. READY SALE IN S7DNE7. United Press Association.—Copyright. (Received 10.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. A consignment of cabbages, peas and beans brought from New Zealand in the Awatea, was sold on the markets yesterday. Prices for cabbages reached 21/ a dozen, and choice peas and beans realised 24/ a bushel. If the local scarcity continues it is likely further larger importations will be made. Rationing of egg supplies in Xew South Wales by 50 per cent has become necessary because of the recent heat wave and bush fires, in which between 200,000 and 300,000 fowls died.
Local market prices for peas and beans are approximately 8/6 a bushel, while cabbages are selling for from 2/ to 4/ a dozen.

The "Sydney Morning Herald" states that at the municipal market yesterday prices for cabbages reached 21/ a dozen, and choicc peas and beans realised 24/ a bushel. These were not necessarily New Zealand vegetables.
