Mr. R. J. £!liott will be * passenger for the south bv train to-morrow evening. The Hon. Mr. Justice Calhrn arrived from the south by the wpres* this morning. Mr. Stanley ?. Scott will leave for Wellington by the Limited express tomorrow evening. Mr. W. A. His lop was a passenger for Auckland by the Limited express from Wellington this morning. Mr. J. P. O'Connor returned to Auckland by the early express this morning after a visit to Wellington. Sir George Elliot, who has been on a brief visit to Wellington, returned by the Limited express this morning. Mr. A. G. Hultquist, member for the Bay of Plenty, was & passenger by the Limited express from Wellington this morning. Mr. James Fletcher returned from Wellington by the Limited express this morning. He will leave again for the south by train to-morrow evening. The Hon. Mr. Justice Northcroft is expected to leave Auckland for Wellington by the Limited express to-morrow evening. Mr. £. C. Goldstine, a member of the Bureau of Importers, who has been attending the importers' conference at Wellington, returned to Auckland i»y the early express this morning. Mr. H. J. Petch, formerly batter supervisor for the South Island, has been appointed to the position of supervising butter instructor for the North Island. He succeeds Mr. W. Dempster, of Hamilton, who recently retired. The Hon. H. G. R. Mason, AttorneyGeneral and Minister of Justice, returned from Wellington by this morning's Limited express. He will leave again for the south by train to-morrow evening. Dr. H. M. Buchanan, superintendent of the Auckland Mental Hospital, who I reached Wellington in the Tamaroa after an absence of nine months abroad, during which he visited BuglMiJ and the Continent, has returned to Auckland. He was accompanied by Mrs. Buchanan. Mr. Baxter O'Neill, of Christchureh, honorary secretary of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming and Life-saving Association, who has been to Rotorna for the intermediate and junior national swimming championships, is a passenger for Wellington by the Main Trunk express to-day. Mr. A. £. Mabin, of Wellington, a director and manager of Levin and Company, has been elected a shareholders' director of the bank of New Zealand to fill the vacancy on the board caused I by the death of Mr. William Watson The other shareholders' representative on the board is Mr. Richard W. Gibbs. The Rev. Father J. O'Reilly, of StPatrick's Cathedral, and the Rev. Father R- Ryan, of St. Ignatius* Parish, St. Helier's Bay, will leave Auckland tomorrow evening to join the Awatea in Wellington. They are to visit Rome and afterwards travel to Ireland, in the course of 12 months' holiday leave. Sergenst O. Tocker, of the Central Police Station, Auckland, has been transferred to Rotorua. He joined the police force in 1914 and later was stationed in Taranaki, on the West Coast of the South Island at Johasonville. He was promoted to sergeant and came to Auckland some five years ago. Mr. Colin Tapley, the well-know a New Zealand film actor, who recently arrived in Dunedin to spend a holiday with his brother, Bias undeigona aa operation and is seriously ill in a pri> vate hospital, says a Press Association message from Dunedin. He wsa to hava left on his return to Hollywood next month.

Mr. W. A. Boucher, president of thi Bureau of Importers, Mr. A. G. immediate put president of tte Associated Chambers of Commerce of New Zealand, Mr. A. M. Seaman, a member of the council, and Mr. J. Hislop, who have been attending the Dominion conference of importers at Wellington, returned to Auckland by the United express this morning.

The Rev. A. Everil Qrr, superintendent of the Auckland Methodist Central Mission, who will next Sunday complete six years of ministry at Airedale Street, will leave on Tuesday for Dunedrn, where he will spend his annual leave. He will also attend the annual Methodist Conference in Christchmch early in February and will return to Auckland at the end of the month.

Mr. H. G. B. Walker has been appointed manager for the Australian Mutual Provident Society in West Australia. Mr. M. C. Buttfield has been appointed sub-manager of the South Australia branch. Mr. S. W. Burkitt succeeds Mr. Walker as acountant for the New Zealand branch. Mr. Buttfield and Mr. Walker left Wellington by the Awatea, says a Press Association message from Wellington.

Major H. Tomlmson and Captain H. H. C. Baird, two retired officers of thft Buffs, both of whom are Boer and Great War veterans and who hvre only recently left the Army, arrived in Wellington in the Tamaroa. Major Tomlinson is an historian and an accomplished public speaker. He is on a fishing tear in the Dominion. Captain Baird and Mrs. Baird are making the round trip.

Air-Commodore Keith Rodney Park, formerly of Dunedin, has been appointed to the post of Chief of Staff of the fighter command in The youngest son of Professor Junes Park, who was for many yean dean of the mining faculty at the Univanity of Otagq, he is a former pupil of the OUgo Boys' High School. He won a eontmis- | sion on the field at Gallipoli and was transferred from the Fourth Reinforcements to the famous 29th Division. After the evacuation of Gallipoli he was granted a transfer to the Royal Air Force, continuing with that branch of the service until the end of the war. He retained his cornmivion after the **T> and as a wing-commander held important posts in Egypt. He was the first New Zealander to have conferred npon him the distinction of honorary Mast«r of Arts of Oxford University. A few months after the Royal he was one of the four selected as aides de camp to His Majesty.
