SUCCESS AT THAMES.

AVONDALE HORSES.

STAKE WINNINGS TOTAL £495.

Eight Arondale-trained horses shared to the extent of £495 in the prize money given by the Thames Jockey Clnb. Orally was the biggest winner with £120, as the result of her second in the-. Trial Handicap and her success fat the fcopu Handicap. The othef horses to gain stakes were: Airam, £25; Master Appellant £40; King Theo, £30; Triune, £30; High Delight, £115; Eastern Heir, £25; and Silver Kagle, £110. This is a gratifying change for local trainers.

The two wins registered by S. G. Lindsay's representatives, High Delight in the Tapu Handicap' and Silver Eagle in the Farewell Handicap, were popularly received.- High Delight, who opened up her winning account on this course twelve months ago, is owned by Mr. C. R. Powell, while Silver Eagle races in the nomination of Mr. Lindsay. Silver Eagle finished a close fourth in the Tapu Handicap on Saturday, with the result that her victory in the Farewell Handicap was anticipated. Three of W. H. Maria's string were in the money without actually winning a brackct. Airam, after being slow away in tlie Maramurua Hurdles, finished a good second, but she failed to reproduce that form when running in the Hikutaia Hurdles, in which she was one of the first to begin. Triune began well in his only start and finished a close sccond. Eastern Heir improved on his first day's run to finish second to' Town Section in the Ngatea Handicap.

Master Appellant ran a good race in the Thames Hack Cup to finish second to Aynho, but his prospects in the Ngatea Handicap were spoilt at the start. Another member of W. Gotigh'a team, Empire Action, drew attention to his coming prospects by finishing fourth in the Trial Handicap. Empire Action is a three-year-old by British Empire from Transaction, and she should not be long in getting out of the maiden class.
