GREAT FAREWELL.
RUSSIAN BALLET COMPANY.
The Covent Garden Russian Ballet Company was accorded the "greatest farewell [in history" prior to its leaving Sydney for Auckland on the Wanganella last night, according to advice received by Mr. Claude Kingston, at His Majesty's Theatre, in Auckland this morning. Receipts for the final week in Sydney constituted a record, and a successful tour of New Zealand is confidently anticipated. The combination is the biggest of its kind which has sailed for New Zealand, containing the largest number of important dancers and having the most extensive repertoire. Owing to the holiday on Monday the booking will be transferred to His Majesty's Theatre kiosk from 9 a.m. Irina Baronova, ballerina at 13, and to-day, at 20, acclaimed as one of the most brilliant of modern dancers, is just a trifle nervous about making her debut as prima ballerina in New Zealand. For all the amazing speed with which she has won fame, she has never lost her nervousness of new audiences, and she recently confessed to "dreading just a little" her Auckland first night.
