An outbreak of fire in grass and gorse near the Mangere aerodrome got out of control yesterday and the OtaJiuhu Fire Brigade was summoned. Fire started in a paddr>ck in which there were the remnants of hay Takings, and, sweeping through it with great rapidity, reached a gully densely covered with tall gorse. Fencing in the area swept by the flames was destroyed.
