THAMES HIGH SCHOOL.

ENGINEERING CLASSES.

/By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.)

THAMES, this day.

Replying to Mr. J. Thorn, MJ„ regarding the proposed engineering classes at the Thames High School, the Hon. P. Webb, Minister of Mines, states that the matter was taken up by his Department and an assurance was given that an application for an increased allocation for the provision of equipment will receive sympathetic consideration.

The Department realised that the £500 allocated wag insufficient to fully equip the school for practical work, but the Minister understood that the Education Department was awaiting the appointment of an instructor, which would have a bearing upon the type and quantity of the equipment. There is every prospect of a substantial addition to the £500 already granted when the instructor is appointed.
