NOMINEE WITHDRAWS.
GENEVA LABOUR CONFERENCE (By Telegraph.—Presg Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. It is announced by Mr. P. M. Butter, of Wellington, who was nominated by a number of unions and trades councils to contest th© ballot for the workers' representative to attend the International Labour Office Conference at Geneva, that he has withdrawn. Mr. Butler stated to-day that the ballot paper containing the names of five nominated candidates had been sent to unions by the Department of Labour prior to the voting by the trades councils, in which Mr. J. Roberts, of Christchurch, was successful, thus becoming the official candidate. Mr. Butler asked the unions to strike his name off the ballot paper and support Mr. Roberts.
