GERMAN BARQUE.
BOUND FOR AUCKLAND. CADETS MAKE MANY FRIENDS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) NEW PLYMOUTH, thie day. Scenes of enthusiasm marled the departure at six o'clock this morning of the barque Kommodore Johnsen, bound for Auckland. A crowd of 150 people gathered on the wharf, despite the freshness of the early morning, and evidence of the many firm friendships made by the German cadets during their 33 days' etay here indicated by the warmth of the farewells exchanged. With characteristic smartness the German officers had the 'barque in the stream in quick time. With the tide and wind favourable, the vessel soon had her sails unfurled, and a course was eet under a full spread. Aβ the barque cleared the wharf the young cadets gathered on the poop and in response to an officer's call gave three cheers for their New Plymouth hosts.
