BEE INVASION.

NEWMARKET SUFFERS. CITIZENS KEPT MOVING. TRAMS IN FIRING LINE. When bees swarm they arc not respecters of persons or places, and their arrival in bulk is usually the signal for a general exodus of the public. Broadway, Newmarket, wan the scene of such activity early this afternoon, when a particularly large invasion occurred, and for over an hour the bees held undisputed sway. There was a dense cloud of bees, buzzing angrily in the vicinity of the intersection of Rennicra Road, and they took possession of several shojis, which both customers and owners found it expedient to evacuate. Apparently no one was stung, but few people invited the opportunity, and placed as much distance as possible between themselves and the buzzing hordes. Motorists closed all the windows and went through the barrage with impunity; lorry drivers were less fortunate and many had a busy time freeing their cabs of uninvited passengers. However, it was tram travellers who were open to the full blast of the onslaught as the trams drew up at the island in the centre of the bees. Many onlookers found merriment as there was u sudden concerted rush of passengers to struggle with the windows and endeavour to hermetically seal the cars, and at the same time trying to cope with the bees that had already swarmed in. At 2 o'clock the bees had practically disappeared, though there were still strays to be seen in a number of shops and in the roadway.
