HOSPITAL BOARD AFFAIRS.

Matters relating to nurses' annual and sick leave were the subjects of decisions made by the Auckland Hospital Board at its meeting last night. The committee recommended that nurses living in should receive 17/6 a week allowance for board lost when on holiday leave and a similar amount for board lost when on sick leave, awav from the institution; and that nurses living out should receive their usual allowance of 35/ a week when on holiday and sick leave, and a lodgjng allowance of 17/6 when on sick leave and admitted to hospital. This was adopted A rearrangement of the holiday system so that three weeks' annual leave should be given at the end of six months' service and annually thereafter waß also approved. ;

Wilson Home Fees.—The board decided that the daily charge for patients in the Wilson Home for Crippled Children should be reduced from 16/ to 15/ as from September 1 last. A letter from the Director-General of Health, Dr. M. H. Watt, had made a recommendation to this effect, pointing out that the fee of 16/ exceeded the actual cost Maternity Services. —To ascertain what action it proposed to take to give effect to the recommendations that would require action on its part, the board was asked, in a letter received from the Director-General of Health, Dr M. H. Watt, to give careful consideration to the portion of the jeport of the committee of inquiry into maternity services which affected the Auckland hospital district. Consideration of the report was deferred at the suggestion of the chairman, Mr. Allan J.
