DECISION TO RESIGN.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) TE AWAMUTU, Monday. Following a decision by the Te Awaniutu Borough Council this evening to require payment of £.1 11/ for a concrete footpath crossing in front of his new garage premises in Alexandra Street, Mr. J. Maxwell declared that the charge was unfair. He therefore intluw:ud his decision to resign, and he thereupon left the meeting. No action was taken in the, matter of accepting the resignation, as it was not lodged in writing.
The Mayor, Mr. G. Spinley, said he regretted the position, but said there was no ill-feeling towards Mr, Maxwell by any members of the couneil. Each subject was dealt with on its merits.
