PROLONGED TALK
French And British Cabinet Ministers PARIS SOLID FOR CZECHS I Received 2 p.m.) * LONDON, this day. Cabinet rose at 1.5 p.m. yesterday and resumed at 3 p.m. Mr. Chamberlain had lunch with the King at Buckingham Palace. The Cabinet meeting ended at 4.55 p.m. Cabinet reassembled at 1 1.20 p.m. and sat till 40 minutes past midnight. The sitting was interrupted by a conference between Mr. Chamberlain and Viscount Halifax, and M. Daladier and M. Bonnet, who had arrived from France. When Cabinet reassembled the French Ministers were still conferring with Mr. Chamberlain and Viscount Halifax. M. Daladier expressed satisfaction at the course of the talks. He said: "We are almost members of the British Cabinet to-night. Everything has proceeded quite normally, but owing to the lateness it was decided to hold a further meeting in the morning." The "Daily Mail" says that it is understood that M. Daladier brought a unanimous declaration for rejecting Herr Hitler's proposal and also affirming France's determination to stand by the Czechs. The Franco-British talks will be resumed at 10 a.m. to-day. t "The "Daily Mail" stated that after the conference the French Ministers and the British Government decided to co-operate with regard to France's firm attitude towards any possible forcible German intervention in Czechoslovakia. The Australian Associated Press says that it is understood that one point under consideration by the British Cabinet was whether any advice on Herr Hitler's latest demands should be tendered to the Prague Government, to whom Mr. Chamberlain had submitted the Godesberg plan without comment. Prolonged discussion upon this is understood to be partly due to an Opposition group, of which Messrs. Duff Cooper, First Lord of the Admiralty, Hore-B&lisha, Minister for War, and W. E. Elliot, Minister of Health, are the most prominent. They hold that a stronger line should be taken against Herr Hitler.
