CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY. MIDDLEMORE'S GOOD SCORES. K. M. WILSON TOPS THE QUALIFYING PLAT WITH 150. The course at Middlemore was in ideal condition for the qualifying rounds of the club championship on Saturday and the scoring was correspondingly good. An aggregate of 150 by K. M. Wilson was the best of the day and he won the Burns' Memorial trophy. Wilson ia one of the young players of the club who had come to the front in the past two seasons. There wae a sprinkling of other young playere in the first 16—C. P. Hoadley, G. W. 8. Williams, B. M. Hay and W. B. Lufik. B. G. Thomson, the club's scratch player, headed the field in the morning round with a 72 —the standard figure—but slipped to 81 in the afternoon to finish in third place. E. L. Bartleet showed a return to form by occupying second place, twi> stroke* behind Wilson, while R. G. Ramger worthily upheld the old brigade. Two former champions of the club W. X. Abbott and R. D. Horton played well in the afternoon, carding a 74, the eame as Wilson, which was the beat of the afternoon. The trophy for the best net score was won by A. R. Johns (12) with an aggregate of 139 with C. P. Hoadley (7) and R. G. Rainger (7) next with 140. Galloway when he was the professional for the club. At North Shore A. E. Browne once again entered the final of the championship. His opponent is S. Foote, who eliminated L. Johnston after a close game. The semi-finalists in the Maungakiekie championship were decided and they are J. E. Stedman (who played the best round of the day), J. H. Earle, J. D. Shanly and I.
