NEW WRESTLING CHAMPIONS. Awhitu, a country club, took three of the Auckland provincial wrestling titles when the final summing up was made at the Town Hall last night. It was -good wrestling most of the way, the competitors in all divisions showing considerable improvement as a result of the-concentra-tion on Olympic rule wrestling in all amateur matches conducted by the Auckland Wrestling Association. The final results were:— Heavy-weight (previous holder, W. Norton). —W. Norton (Auckland); runnerup. H. Cleghorn. Light-heavy-weight (holder C. Passmore). —S. Kemp (Awhitu); runner-up, H. Way. Middle-weight (holder, V. Aspin).—J. AApin (Awhitu-Auckland); runner-up, S. W. Aspin. Welter-weight (holder, A. Nicoll).—A. Nicoll (Awhitu); runner-up. W. Hankens. Lightweight (holder, V. Rawle). —L. W. D. Ball (Surrey); runner-un. K. Brewer. Feather-weight (holder, K. Brewer).— J. O'Connor (Otahuhu); runner-up, F. Whitcombe. Bantam-weiarht (holder, T. Harvey).—T. Harvey (Auckland): runners-up. R." Pekin (Morrinsville) and B. Sigley, equal. As a, mark of respect for the late Herbert Franklin, who died a« the result of an iniury received on Saturdav evening, all officials and wrestlers wore black armbands last evening, and prior to the professional matches all who were in attendance in the Town Hall stood for a period in silence. Mr. F. Murphy refereed all events last night, with Messrs. G. Heald, C. Browne and H. J. Ashby as judges.
