AUSTRALIAN BANKS IMPROVE.
COMMERCIALS AT 17/6.

A return to active dealings marked the Stock Exchange this morning after several days of negligible business, but values were irregular.
In the banking section Australasia confirmed the strength of last week in sales up to £10 15/. closing 2/6 either side. Commercials sold 9d up at 17/6. with more wanted at the same price. Nationals of New Zealand lost ground in reported business, and were quoted from £2 11/9 J-o £2 12/6 on Change. Xew Zealands had sellers at £2 3/6 and buyers at £2 2/11.
A sale of Xew Zealand Refrigerating (con.) brought a lower rate, but fullypaids were steady between 18 7 and IS 9. Breweries dropped 3d to 42 9. and after *ales there were more sellers at that pric". Dominions had unsupported sellers at £1
In miscellaneous industrials Broken Hill Proprietary lost a little ground, but final quotations between £2 19/5 and £2 19 9 found sellers reluctant to make concessions. Contributing shares were firm. The section revealed scarcely anv other alterations. Broken Hill Souths lost lOd among the mining issueß, but Mount Lyelfe were steady.
