NATIONAL ANTHEMS.

S. AFRICAN CONTROVERSY

CAPETOWN. June 1. English-speaking South Africans are indignant at the playing of "Die Stem van Suid Afrika" ("The Voice of South Africa"), which has l>een adopfed as South Africa's National Anthem, at the Union Day military parados yesterday, while "Clod Save the King" was omitted. The "Cape Times.' , in a leader, says: "Die Stem" has definitely tiiken the place of "God Save the Kin;:." in-c as a joint anthem, lmt as an anthem superseding "Hod Save the Kin;:" at ceremonies where the latter clearly and decisively more appropriate. The paper urges that the matter should be put right without delay.
